DK The Drummer/Darren King at The High Watt
Nashville never ceases to amaze me. Only here, on a Tuesday night, can you see a world class drummer from a notorious band perform a solo show in a very cozy, intimate venue. For almost 2 hours, DK The Drummer (Darren King of Mutemath) rocked his beats and channeled a shiny Animal from the Muppets in his shiny gold fringe jacket. Darren's skills on the drums are undeniable, he is a well respected and influential percussionist worldwide. Mashups from hip hop, electronic, and live synths mixed with his iconic and passionate drum stylings.
The creativity he brought to this solo performance was innovative and intimate. With various projections and special guest, Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (bass player of Mutemath) and a baritone saxophone player, the electric atmosphere was amped by King dancing with the crowd and clearly enjoying himself throughout the night.
