Bluewater Grill in Wrightsville Beach

My recent visit to Wilmington, NC brought me back to my childhood memories of weekends at the beach. Living in Fayetteville, NC during my elementary school years, my parents would take my brother and I over to the coast for little mini-vacations and we loved the white sand and family atmosphere of the Wilmington area.

My lifelong friend Miriam relocated to the area and is an amazing interior designer there (follow her on Instagram @miriamcreates for her designs Coin de Joie) and we set out to explore the local food and fashion scene.

Our first stop was at the lovely Bluewater Waterfront Grill in Wrightsville Beach, situated right on the Intracoastal Waterway, amongst yachts and little boats lining the piers.

Bluewater had an upscale relaxed atmosphere, without being too casual. Service was efficient and friendly and they offered fresh seafood options. The decor was modern and fresh but the best part was the view of the water. They offered outdoor dining but it was still too chilly for us to be out there, but I really wish we could have!

I ordered the scallops with orzo pasta and snow peas, it was delicious! Seasoned well and presented very pretty. Seafood is something I really strive to only eat locally and sustainably so I like hearing about fresh catches and a server who's knowledgable about the source. The owner came by a few times and checked on us to make sure we were having a great experience.

Thank you Bluewater for hosting us!

My other recommendations for the area are Bespoke Coffee, Rx Restaurant, and The Basics for brunch.

Wilmington /Wrightsville Beach is such a great area with a great food scene, friendly folks and breezy balmy weather.
